David was born in California, childhood lived in Oklahoma, adolescence and college years residing in Colorado. His academic journey included BA, Colorado State College; MDiv, MRE, and PhD, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, MLA, Dallas Baptist University as well as study opportunities at Catholic University, George Mason University, University of North Texas and Acton University. Specialized training in stewardship included the CSP (Christian Stewardship Professional), ACSE (Advance Christian Stewardship Executive), and Graduate Certificate in Stewardship Leadership (SWBTS).
Dr. David G. McQuitty is an ordained Baptist minister and church education specialist, as well as a teacher in a variety of public, and private institutions and administrator and professor in theological seminaries and denominational schools. His academic interest has been in the area of Biblical stewardship with a focus on issues in personal, family, church and community financial accountability, Christian spirituality, global missions and evangelization. He was contributor as a Content Reviewer of the STEWARDSHIP BIBLE published in 2009.
For five decades Dr. McQuitty has served in a variety of ministries in churches in Virginia, Hawaii and Texas. He worked as a public and parochial school teacher in the United States and Canada and an overseas missional theological educator in Barbados and Cuba. From 1984 until retirement in 2012, his career was as a seminary administrator and teacher at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. The areas of service included student and financial services, Dean of Students, vice president roles in institutional advancement, and Professor of Administration.
Presently, David and his wife, Marcia, have continued in Christian ministry as volunteers with the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention, serving in the areas of church leadership development, stewardship education, mission education and special ministries with international students and older adults. He continues classroom and online teaching at Dallas Baptist University (TX), and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (CA). Dr. McQuitty has been on several ministry boards and professional organizations including the Mary I. Gourley Foundation (TX), Scholarship Advisory Board Keesee Foundation (VA) and a Life Member of the BACE (Baptist Association of Christian Educators). He is currently a volunteer as SBC Disaster Relief Responder, Chaplain and Feeding Unit member in Texas and Hawaii. In 1968 David married his best friend and ministry partner, Marcia. They are blessed with three grown sons, Michael, Richard and Stephen as well as two daughters-in-law, Vicki and Rachel and four grandchildren, Danielle, Breanna, Hannah, and Scott.
